Great site, So, long story short.
Picked up a JD at a yard sale in 2007, didn't realize what I had until I came across this site.
It's a 340 trailfire canadian special vin. J34SL 190097M manufactured in 06/81, which would make it an 82.
If anyone has a tech manual or any info about this machine, pm me.
I'm thinking about restoring it. But might not be able to find the time.

At least you appreciate what it is and enjoy it. Post a few pics when you can, everone here likes them irregardless of the sled condition. Does it have one of those garden tractor hour meters?

No hour meter, I put some pics up on kijiji.
I originally bought this sled for the chassis to fix my old 79.
Track was pooched. So replaced with my 79 track, carb slide also missing, so replaced with 79 slide and throttle cable.
Engine pulled 150 psi. in both cylinders.
Have it running now and it's a blast from the past.
