WTB Helix for HOF Ride

Post by WinnipegStPaul9 »

I need a 38 degree helix for the HOF ride on Friday. Would anyone coming up there check their stock and look for a helix with a casting number of M65871 or part number of M66384? These were used on 76-78 340 engines / Cross Country and 340cc Trailfires with serial numbers above 120,000. A used one is just fine as long as it's a part you'd feel comfortable using.

Thanks a million!!

Don,

Nick was suppposed to send you one out last week. I also put a few in the trailer incase that didn't work. I will be up in St. Germain around noon on Weds if that helps.

Rats! Can you read the PN on the sticker, or the cast in number for me? I will check the others I brought.

Scratch the whole secondary. I can bring the helix. The center bushing is even still good. The ramps have some minor wear.

I was wrong on the casting number. The part and casting number I need is M66384. Helix with any other casting number will not work for my application.

@Joe, part number AM55070 is a 44 degree helix used on Liquifires -190,000.

Thanks all.

Pat,

Thanks for helping out Don! I would like to compare the ones I have in the trailer to yours to check the angles.

Don,

AM55357 is the 44 degree helix for the 82-84 Liquifires, (>-190,000). "I think" the AM55070 is 38 deg, as it fits the 80/81 Liquifire that came with the Comet 102. I want to compare to Pat's helix since I don't have any parts books with me, and jdparts.com does not list the helix angle for the AM55070, but does show the AM55357 as 44 deg.

See you guys in St. Germain!

My fine tune manual shows:

AM55070 - 44 degree - metal/fabric bushing (M68402) - M68534 casting - Liquifire ( -190,000)
AM55357 - 44 degree - metal/Teflon bushing (M69083) -M68534 casting - Liquifire (1900,000- )
80 Liquifire (purchased 1996 ~ Running)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2010 ~ Running....Now)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2011 ~ Not running - I officially have a problem now)
83 Snowfire (purchased 2014 father/son restoration project)
78 Spitfire ~ sold (should have been shot for this)
