liquifire RPM

Post by nhjdfire440 »

Hi guys

I was wondering if you guys had any insight to an issue I have been having. I have a 1981 liquifire and it is running pretty good lacking in the low end some but it will get up and go after that. Starts good warm and cold. My tach at about half throttle is say about 5000 and I go for more and it doesn't get any faster. I would say I'm doing about 50mph or so at half and full throttle. The sled is all stock and drive train, carb, and engine are all in good condition. I was wondering if any of you guys out there know what could be causeing this problem.
Thanks Josh

Make sure the carbs are synchronized and verify the slides are open all the way at WOT position. You have to pull the airbox to do this.

Stock engagement RPM is typically around 4500, so it seems odd that 5000 would net you 50 MPH. You should see 9000 easily at launch.

What about the rev limiter? Are you running with that still plugged in?

Sounds like clutch issues to me.

Could also be jackshaft bearings that was one of my problems when my liquifire was acting similar......
My 2 cents.....
