When pulling the 340/S off of the trailer before heading for the HOF ride I noticed it would hardly pull itself. After better inspection I discovered that the brake puck would not retract by itself. I consulted with a couple of good KH guys who gave me ideas but my problem turned out to be unique (of course duh!! it's ME).

At this time I've had the hole in the puck tapped and the threads are good. My problem is finding a 1/4-20 screw that is a little less than 1/2" long. I have a Polaris caliper coming, if it fits I might use that instead.

I would thread a nut onto a screw and then grind it down to the length you need it. When you back the nut off, it sets the threads on the end so they are right.

There would not be room inside the caliper for a jam nut setup.

The nut on the screw is not for a jam nut, but rather to deburr the threads after you grind it down. You remove the nut and use a file on the end of the screw to smooth the edges before installation.

Todd, I think he meant after cutting to the desired length, remove the nut which should clean the threads. I have used this method in the past before discovering friends with cool shop equipment LOL.

Update, Roger Jordan (Jekyll) is sending me a Polaris caliper to look at and T-roy (HoosierDeereMan) is going to work on a screw. It's GREAT to have friends.
