I've got a NOS hood that is supposed to fit a 340 cyclone, don't know if they are the same or not. It has a couple real small hairline cracks on one side if I remember right. Shipping costs could be scary.

What do you want for the hood if I do some research and find it fits? I've seen shipping cost from some hood manufacturers for 100$ but dunno how there being packaged to prevent damages.

$75 plus shipping. I see in my parts book there are two numbers for the hood AM53954 for ser. no. -80000 and AM54616 for ser. no. 80001 and above for the 440. I will check and see if I can find a part no. on the hood.

Below (-80,000) would be 76 and 77. Above (80,000-) would be a 78. Different hood. I would be interested if it's an AM54616.

I looked the whole thing over and couldn't find a number on it but when I got it at the time I had a 77 340 that I was going to restore so I would guess it is a AM53954. I'll get a couple of pictures of the one side and send them.

Here is a picture of the cyclone hood. After I looked at it I saw where it is more of a crack than hairline. It's about 3" long but wouldn't be hard to fix as it's easy to get at. It is right below the deer decal might be able to enlarge the photo and see it.

Thanks. Where are you located? I gotta give mine good look over just nervous the hood may not fit but think the 340 and 440 chassis the same so I don't see why it wouldn't.

I'm in Nebraska, from what my parts book say's the hood should fit 76 & 77 440's if the ser. no. is over 80001 then it should be a 78. I don't know what the difference is between the two hoods maybe someone on here could explain the difference.

To the best of my knowledge. I believe the difference is in the Deere decal. In 77 the panel and the leaping deer was one sticker in 76 the leaping deer was a sticker on top of the panel sticker.

I would probaly have to make a box or container out of cardboard and then use styrofoam type packing materials .
