JDX8 Carb Air Horn or Air Box

Post by DLDeere »

I have a 73 JDX8 that I just bought and am getting running. The carb has a horn on it instead of an airbox. Did any of the early JDX8s come with just a horn instead of an airbox. Also, the carb is stamped WD-5. I thought WDA-34 was standard. Maybe a different carb than the original?

I would say the carb has been switched. WDA-34 was original with the air box and hose.

If you decide to get the original setup back, go with the '74-'75 X8 carb, the WRA-31, leaner mid-range is what I've been told.
