1973 JDX8. Runs great! I've just put in new pistons & rings, honed the cylinders, all new gaskets and seals. New spark plugs and plug wires. Filed and gapped the points. It came with a different Walbro carb that was not the original so I replaced the carb with a Walbro WRA-31 that was rebuilt last year. Cleaned the gas tank, added a fuel filter and pickup screen, replaced the chain case oil, new headlight and thoroughly cleaned the engine and under the hood. Lights, tach and speedometer all work. Kill switch is stuck, unplugged and needs to be replaced.
Track is excellent but is not the original. Bogies are all good, bearings in drive axle and rear suspension appear to be good by a visual check and ride. Seat has been redone a couple years ago, has a couple nicks in the piping/seam that you can see in the pictures.
Body - Some scratches on the hood on both sides and the front. Top left corner of the hood is chipped. This is the only body damage on the entire sled. Tunnel is straight with no dents, bumper has no dents or dings, just some rust on the chrome, hood has no other cracks or chips. Dash has a 1" crack by the choke knob. Rest of counsel and engine cover shroud is good with no cracks or chips. It's missing the spill pan on top of the gas tank.
This sled is ready to ride or ready to be painted to complete the restoration. Either way, it will be a good sled for a vintage hobbyist! Check out the short You Tube video of part of the test ride by clicking the link below and see the pictures below.
