Hi guys.
I am in the process of freshening up an engine in an 800 that is going to be a rider. I'm getting ready for reassembly, but this evening i noticed that the motor mount is cracked in 3 different places starting at the edge of the plate very near to the engine mounting holes, and they extend inward towards the opening in the center of the plate. One is actually cracked all the way to the center deeming the plate unusable. My question: Has anyone seen this before? And, if so, what was determined to be the cause? I hate to replace it only to have it crack again in the future.
Thanks,
DE

Re: Cracked Motor Mount
I have seen that happen on a Sportfire but that's made of aluminum and I'm guessing your talking about steel.
Re: Cracked Motor Mount
Nope, the 800 was one of the few mid mounts to receive a stamped aluminum motor plate. I'm hoping it just wasn't tightened down properly. I also have new vibration dampeners for it, so hopefully that helps to correct the problem as well.

You can save your current plate. Drill a small hole (1/8") at the end of the crack to stop it, then have it welded back up. More than likely it cracked from a lot of vibrations and jostling around on the JDX's unforgiving suspension.
