440 Trialfire engine
440 Trialfire engine
I just got my engine back together and am having a hard time getting it fired up. I put in a gasket set and seals. The one thing that I don't think is right is that it pulls over a lot harder. It does fire once in a while but wont stay running. Any ideas would be great.

Could just be flooded. Did you use lots of oil during the rebuild on the crank and cylinders?
If your sure its getting gas hold the throttle wide open until she starts

Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

I did use plenty of oil and did put some gas down the cylinders to get it to fire. Have not had this problem before but there's always new things that happen.

Was it a running sled before?

Yes it was but it would not idle.
Re: 440 Trialfire engine
First I would do a pressure test on the motor. Make sure everything is sealed correctly. Does it turn freely with the plugs removed any binding? (it should turn freely)
Then move onto the carb. Is that set correctly? Make sure its CLEAN, choke is set right, floats are installed correctly...etc
Have even compression on both cylinders?
Check your fan belt tension...if too tight the motor would be difficult to turn over.
Is the fuel pump working...pumping gas to the carb?
Also use new spark plugs and check the gaps.
Good luck!
