If you can figure out a walbro carbed JDX8 then an 80s Liquifre, This 78 will be a piece of cake. Clean carbs, replace crank seals. Make sure your stator is good with an ohm meter. The kioritz motors are simple and run well in variety of conditions, much less finicky than the kawi liquids.

My appreciation for it did not happen over night, but the 78LF is my all time favorite leafer...any brand. Though a TXL, 6000 Tiger, or RV would be very close. (-:
Great Find!

The hood is not original, the hinge area on the original cracked out, John deere at this dealership used a cyclone hood and painted it black, you can see the green bleeding through in scratched areas, I will be getting the original hood.

Any interest in the paperwork and display memorabilia that came on the sled from the dealer ?

Paul,
Nice find. With the age of the machine and the high mileage, I would tear it down and inspect all the driveline bearings. One thing I found to be a common problem with the 78's is the bulkhead cracking behind the lower steering mount. The suspension is prone to seized shafts also. I noticed a tool pouch mounted to the inside of the belly pan. The previous owner must have installed that. This was eliminated with the tool box in the fuel tank.

I wonder how they used a cyclone hood!?! They would have had to do some fiberglass work to get the vent right. Right???

Crank seals were done by prior owner, don't recall mileage when done but can get that info, he is only 12 miles away. The suspension was all anti seized 3 years ago, it's moves freely.
Can I see this crack from the bottom of the belly pan if I roll it over ? I have every receipt on every part put on this sled, I will have to,dig through them and find the tool pouch .
