WTT: 83 Liquifire, 83 Trailfire, 84 Sportfire for 84 LF

Post by ihengineer76 »

Guys, I have two of each of the 83 Trailfire and Liquifire, and 84 Sportfire, and want to find an 84 Liquifire. I am not looking to sell any of these outright. I am not fussy about the condition of the Liquifire as long as most of the 82 and up parts are there (even basket cases). If it is nice, I would be willing to let a combination of my sleds go in trade.

The Liquifire:
This sled has 410 original miles on it. It sat in a shed for a lot of years. The guy I bought it from took it out of the shed and rode it without replacing crank seals and smoked a piston, so it sat inside for a number of years again. The track and snow flap look brand new. The gauges are nice and the dash is in great shape. The handle bars and controls are in very good shape as well. The seat needs to be recovered, but the foam is still very soft. The hood looks good, but has a crack in the back right corner. This will be an easy fix. It has the TR-800 clutch and accompanying secondary, and the HSR ignition. I was planning on rebuilding the motor and can still do this if we work it out in the trade. This would be a great sled to run as a survivor, or an easy restoration.

The Trailfire:
This one has 782 miles on it and looks very nice. It fires right up, runs well. The oil injection system is on it and still functional. The paint and decals look very nice. The track looks good, and the skis are nice and straight. The only things that I found on it were the tail light housing has some rust, and the seat cover could be replaced, but the foam is great. Some of the staples have popped from shrinkage of the cover. This is truly a very nice survivor.

The Sportfire:
I bought this last spring with intentions of doing a full restoration. I had it running last spring, but only for a minute by running gas to the carb by gravity from a bottle. I will drain and flush the tank, and clean the carb to get it running again. The oil injection pump in not on it any more, but it has the tank, and the recoil with the provisions for driving the pump. If I remember right, it has about 1400 miles on it. It would be a great rider just by doing the normal seals and gaskets as well as servicing the skid. The track looks fine on it, and the gauges and dash look good. The seat needs recovering, but the foam is not in that bad of shape. The hood could use a repaint, but still has some shine when polished. I have a set of NOS hood decals that can go with this one. I am actually kind of reluctant to let this one go, since they are quite hard to find, but you can't keep them all I guess.

If you are interested, I can send more pictures of the sled. You are more than welcome to stop out and see these in person as well. Heck, you can stop by even if you aren't interested in trading and just want to BS about Deeres and see some of my projects! Thanks for reading my half of a book here.
