Wanted-JD 800 or 440 cyclone

Post by Tjaygombos »

Hello All- Talk about a newbie....I am brand new to the group, and will be brand new to snowmobiling as soon as I buy a sled. Since I know really nothing about snowmobiles, I would like to get started with a vintage JD sled that doesn't need and major work, while adding some more green to my garage. Based on the very little I've learned to this point, I think I'd like an 800 or a 440 cyclone. If anyone has, or knows of a sled that would fit, please let me know. Thanks, Tom.

Tom welcome to our group. The 2 sleds you have picked are very good selections. reliable as all get out as long as their maintained. what year of cyclone are you looking at? 78's are the most popular b/c of the lighter green paint and the 78's also had an aluminum suspension (which lightens them up). I live an hr south of Erie Pa. I will do some checking, but I had leads on a decent 78' 440 last year. I will check and see if its still available. :usa: :welcome:

Hello Tom,

Where are you located? I have a original 720 mile 76 Cyclone down here in TX that I could part with. I will be driving to NY over the holidays, and up to MN and WI in Feb. As it's all original, it should be gone through of course.

Thanks for the welcome, and for the replies. Yes, Iowa would be a bit of a haul...And a snowmobile from Texas? ....Gotta love JD enthusiasts. I am about an hour south of Buffalo, NY so if you're serious, and would be coming nearby let me know. As for the lead near Erie, PA- that would just be an afternoon trip, so let me know if it pans out. Thanks again.

Tom sadly he texted me back and sold it. It was a great deal $400 for a decent 78' plus a 76' for parts. :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: If Joe's cyclone don't fit your needs I will continue on the prowel for something. :usa:
