I got the call the chassis parts and tunnel were ready at the powder coaters. The nice folks at Long Horn Powder Coating had never done a snowmobile before, but it came out pretty well:

Had to call Cari Deerest into the shop to lend a hand installing the tunnel to the bulkhead. Also purchased a pneumatic rivet gun to speed up assembly work:
After installing the 3 blind carriage bolts that are hidden by the tunnel cooler, the cooler itself was riveted in. I should note that heavy duty steel rivets were used in the structural locations, while NOS and regular steel and aluminum rivets were used for non-critical locations.

The tank and handlebar support was added to the chassis to basically complete it. Bolted in the PTO motor mount and riveted in the suspension mount reinforcements to wrap up the day.
Next steps include installing the chain case, TPR and bumpers. Then a rebuild of the suspension and motor will keep progress rolling...

Over the past week I was able to get a few more parts painted and installed on the 621 Liquifire:
The rear grab bar was installed with new stainless bolts, and a new tail light brightened her up:

The front end is coming together with the NOS and reconditioned TPR rivited in place, along with fuel line and wiring clips installed. Then the stearing, chain case and jackshaft were installed:
The track and drive axle are next to be installed. I have another box of parts to sandblast and powder coat, including the front bumper, hood guides and such...

Dispite a lot of travel this month, I have been pushing the I-500 Liquifire rebuild along. After repainting my Cat SnoPro bars black, they were reinstalled on the same brackets from last year.
Fired up the sand blaster again last weekend and found the it's much easier to blast in October's 70 deg days then when it's 104 out in July:
I originally planned to just repaint the suspension and chassis parts, but I really like how the powder coating looks, so I dropped off the load of parts to Longhorn Power Coating last Monday.

On Friday afternoon I picked up the freshly coated parts, and I think they looked great. I had both suspension arms, the cluch cover, recoil housing and some smaller brackets coated:
I pulled out the service manual to make sure I was rebuilding that darn recoil properly. It fell apart last year, and I had to borrow one from Wade Bennet to race with. (Thanks for that buddy!) I used an NOS rope sheave and new rope from Cat in the assembly:

With a wedding this weekend and out of town friends visiting, quality garage time was limited, but I was able to get the double decker tunnel protectors installed:
I used original Deere plastic protectors to space out a set of aluminum "Sportfire/Trailfire" height tunnel protectors:
After a bit more fiddeling around, I will be read to flip the chassis to install the track and suspension. Still need to tear down the motor to inspect for any issues. I will probably install a fresh crank, pistons and jugs since I have them ready to go, aside from lapping the gasket surfaces and such...
...and just over 3 months to go before race day!
