That's pretty darn good......so that being the case, have to ask..is there anything we should be doing to our sleds for better results?

lol theres always things to do to these sleds, my tinkering concoction come from 12 years of vintage ice racing and people telling me that I can never beat the big 4 sleds with a JD. But I turn heads when those guys just got beat by a liquifire HEHEHE. But this is a full blown race sled for 660ft it will never spend its days crossing shelled off corn fields anymore.....

One good solid improvement to do to most of the later John deere's is update the clutching to a more modern secondary they are way more tunable and parts are available for them.

Have just been focused on gearing and primary clutching up to now and have seen good results but looks like its time to move to secondary also. Just lack the time to do this right. Should get my 80.s over to the Dyno and give it a spin.

Boy O boy after putting the sled on the dyno you can definitely see what a gram here, a gram there and cam arm curvature can do to alter a shift curve....

James . We didn't play around with belts that much on yours but just changing a belt (same part#) on a sled can change power up to 10 hp. That doesn't mean you can't get the power back if it is a power loss. A little change in shims or weight will normally bring it around. Point is that when you drop a different belt on a set of clutches. things change. I keep saying that on the TR800 set up. The aftermarket belts do not fit properly and will change the way the clutches work. Is it better or worse? Don't know. Can it be "tuned" to work like the 69170? Possibly. Is it a "drop in"? No.

well just between the two belts I used I seen there was a slight difference in the way they performed.
