79 Spitfire

I have a 79 Spitfire for sale. I am the 2nd owner.

Everything on this spitty is pretty darn good with the exception of:

Broken brake block but it is secure


I completely went through the engine and replaced seals and all gaskets. I also disassembled and cleaned the butterfly carb and replaced some of the guts with NOS from Brock (skoalmint)

I also replaced the wood strips on the side of the seat. It isn't a perfect seat but is pretty good.

New fuel lines, filter, and rebuilt pump. New recoil rope. Track is nice as well along with all the bars.

It ran great last winter but I haven't started it yet this year because I drained all of the fuel and haven't put any back in.

I would like to get $500 but would entertain any offers.

Not trying to hijack Bob's thread but thought I'd give you a little more insight about this sled. In late 78 or early 79 four of us guys decided we'd buy Spitfires. Since one of the guys was a John Deere Territory rep we got them for a great price ( I think $650.00 each) I was used to riding much higher performing sleds and racing cross country but thought, what the heck. Turns out these were some of the coolest sleds ever built. Light and maneuverable, fairly quick off the line but lacked top speed. We didn't care cause we just wanted sleds we could beat on. The sled that Bob has for sale is the only one left of the four that we had. The previous owner took exceptional care of it. I'll also tell you that on our first night out riding these Spitfires we broke out the taillights of the other three just being foolish and hitting each other. This sleds owner was more careful. thanks for letting me take a quick ride down memory lane.

It is just held together with the zip ties, I haven't really looked at what exactly it's broke, but, no,I don't think I have the parts to replace.
