79 TrailFire (the warhorse)

Post by snowkat79 »

I had this sled given to me, and it had been sitting outside for 2 years not running......
It has a 440 motor in it, but it was originally a 340 sled.

SO at home now I decide to give it a carb cleaning, and some new plugs just to see if it is work fixing up enough for a daily rider. Compression checks out at over 125psi, and my co-worker said it ran 2 years ago......(there is my project '80 LiquiFire in the background)

Went for a quick runaround, to find that its a good runner, but steers like a thrown brick! Upon further investigation, it needs wear bars, and the steering rod is bent! I ordered new wear bars and have them, just waiting for a time to install them.

Question: Can I rob the straight steering rod from my 81 Liquifire? Will it fit? :?:

I know this is a Liquifire, and not a Trailfire, but it will work for location purposes. Here is the steering rod I am in need of
