76 liquifire running out of fuel???

Post by crosscut »

Wondering if anyone had this issue before? I drained the fuel tank, cleaned the fuel pump, everything seemed good, cleaned carbs, ect. This sled starts on one or two pulls every time. After I run it around the house a few times, it dies......seems that the fuel pump isn't supplying the carbs. Did the ether spray on the pto crank trick...no rpm change. if this is a pulse problem, what could it be? Thanks guys :shifty:

Check your fuel filter. If it is full of gas it is clogged. A normal filter will only be about 1/2 full. Also, check the filter inside the tank.

Are you sure it's a fuel issue and you aren't loosing spark?

That's a good point, especially if it still has the oem Prestolite cdi box.

yes, it's fuel....spark is always blue and strong. I think I may have solved it tonight. I decided to take out the fuel pump that I had cleaned and this time I put new diaphragms and gaskets in it. It seems to work much better now. I guess the diaphragms were bad even though they felt fine....wierd

You will find that nothing is weird when you are working on a 35 year old sled.
