I'm looking at getting maybe a spitfire or sprint fire for local races, nothing super competitive, just for fun really. I'd like your advice on which models would be good for small ice ovals, river running (frozen of course) and lemans style. Again, don't want it to be a huge maintainence machine, that's why I was thinking the direct drive would be good. I think both these machines have cleated tracks, so I'd have to put some studs on it, but otherwise what do you guys think?
Thanks

Re: what's a good deere for ice ovals/ and on a budget
Over the years I have seen a couple of Cyclones be competeative in lemans style racing.
The chassis on the Cyclone/liquifre is really tough and can take the beating.
The Spit/Sprints are very light and if you can get traction/handling dialed in I would think they would perform well on ice ovals.
The problem I can see with Direct Drive machines is you are very limited with gearing.
But be realistic. If you race any machine you will have high maintenace.
