points & condenser set up

Post by snowcrazy »

hey gang! I need to confirm the proper set up on how the condenser & point spring are mounted with plastic washers in the proper position. Excluding the tiny o washer in the point post, how are they properly done. Example:
bolt, metal washer, condenser contact, plastic washer, post, plastic washer, point spring, metal washer, bolt nut. When I bought the sled from this farmer, he had a tractor mechanic (backyard type lol) worked on it. Since then it has had the low spark issue. Just another check to see if this is influencing the issue. All other components seem to be with in specs. Thanks! :bonk: :wall:

You have the assembly order correct.
Incorrect assemble results in no spark what so ever as the points will always be grounded out to the stator plate.

I have seen several sleds with no spark and it was missing plastic washers or incorect assy.

So if you still have weak spark look at the condensor as long as you have the stator out.
Check coils, wires, boots, connectors, grounds, insulators and the sparkplugs themselves.

Only having a problem on one side makes trouble shooting much easier as you have a good reference to guild you though.

Did you dress the points and clean them after words?
