Best way to remove a stubborn head?
Re: Best way to remove a stubborn head?
That would go right in the bead blasting cabinet if it was mine. Just have to make sure you get ALL of the glass beads washed out when you are done.

Re: Best way to remove a stubborn head?
Gentleman,
There are many ways to remove stubborn gaskets. Matt's suggestion of spraying gasket remover is good advice. I would be very, very careful using a rotory type of Scotchbright or other abrasive removal method on aluminum. I am not saying it can't be done, but if you use too abrasive of a cutter, like the "cookie cutter" pads on a air grinder, you will warp the mating surfaces.
I have used a razor blade plenty to remove gaskets and crank case sealant, etc. Again, done with a reasonable amount of care, it works quite well. I also recomment lapping the heads and block on surface plate if at all possible. This is even more true for the liquid cooled Kawi Liquifire motors in addition to to the Kioritz versions. These things tend to stress relieve and warp a bit with time and flat mating surfaces promote better sealing.
I hope this helps,

I use a grey 3m polishing wheel on a die grinder. We use them at work to polish stainless welds. I use a razer blade to remove the big stuff first. Remember guys there are more than one way to do things. I have lots of nice polishing stuff from work.
