800
So I was out for a ride satrday when all at once my 800 bogged down and quit on my. Today I did a compression test and found my clutch side has no pressure do to a hole in the top. Im assuming I must have had a bad head gasket cause the other side is fine. I haven't tore down yet but I was just curious if I should replace both pistons? Or any other things I should replace as long as I'm tearing down?. Thanks

Re: 800
Ever replace the crank seals? If not, I bet that's the reason for your melted piston. You can probably get away with replacing one piston, but most people prefer that they mach for proper balance. You'll have to tear down and take a look at your cylinder to see if it's salvageable.

Re: 800
Would any one have the part number numbers of the head gasket and the base gasket(the gasket to go under the cylinders)? I was going to try and find some nos gaskets if possible since I only need the gaskets for the top end. Thanks

Re: 800
M64675 is the head gasket, M65653 is the base gasket, M65413 is the exhaust gasket. There are instructions in the FAQ on how to use JDparts.com to find part numbers and diagrams. John Deere has it all posted for free use. http://www.jdsleds.com/community/viewto ... f=4&t=2257

Re: 800
Will the base gaskets interchange between the 800, jdx8, and the first gen liquifire? They all have the same KIORITZ 440/22 motor right?

Re: 800
It could, but the parts listings are confusing on that one. It looks like there was a mid-run change in the part numbers. I know there was the CDI update kit, but I don't know why that would have changed the base gasket. Not sure what to make of it.
