Rough 340/s close by.

Post by fastl82vette »

So I was surfing Craigslist ads and in my "Deere snowmobile" search I found an ad for some amphibious 6 wheelers. At the bottom of the description they mention that they have a 1975 340/s for $950. The one picture they provide shows it is in pretty rough condition. Do you guys think its worth a look? I'm only about 15 minutes away if anyone else is interested I could probably take a look at it. http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/sno/4331245704.html

I saw that ad also--he was also trying to sell that sled last year--I talked to him by email at the end of last season. Looks very rough to me and with parts for those not only hard to find by expensive--I think you would have a ton of $$$$ in that sled if you were going to restore it.

the craiglist ad you linked is for an all terrain vehicle. That said, i think this is the 340/S that's been for sale for a long time. All 340/S have value but a parts sled is a parts sled. If it's the same sled I'm thinking of I just couldn't justify the cost. Hopefully someone will step up and do something with it.

I bet he didn't sell it--I had talked to him last season--he watches this site and actually told me to come over here to see how much that sled was worth. Didn't take me long to realize in it's condition it wasn't worth what he was originally asking which was $1200. Now it was down to $950. I think he is just trying to drive up the price by telling some it was sold for $1200-----and then telling others they can by his for only $950. And if he did sell it -- good for him---But someone overpaid---or really needed some of the parts on it. He had sent me some more pics of it and I wouldn't have given more than $400 for it---it was really, really rough.

I had asked him for pictures and further info on the sled. He didn't send any, just said "sled is old for 1200". I was assuming sold in place of old.

If he paid attention to any thing here on our forum he should know they made more than 500 of them. :bonk:
Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.
