Got a question, rebuilding 80' Liquifire

Post by BombThreat »

Ive been searching all over and I dont know why I just didnt ask here. You guys are loaded with knowlege

:) I have to give my JD a top end rebuild, which is requiring boring and honing. I want to buy the Kimpex .20 over size piston kit but I cant find .20 over needle bearings. Im new to this so I dont even know if I need .20 or just to use STD size (all i can find). Could you guys help me out and tell me where or what i can use... Thanks alot!

PS: What places do you guys use to buy top end parts for these sleds?

The piston kit should include a new piston pin, and C-clips. The size of pin never changes from standard. When replacing pistons, it is wise to replace the piston pin and needle bearings(sold seperately).

Just the piston is bigger it takes the same size piston pin. There is no such thing I'm aware of as a o/s needle brg for snowmobiles

THe 80 LF kawi motor has chrome plated cylinder walls which you must be very carefull to hone. Why do think you need to bore it out? If the cylinder walls are scortched bad they need to be sent out and replated. You should be able to get standard or oversize piston kits from DK or parts unlimited. They should have gasket sets to. When getting the head gaskets you should spray some chrome spray and spray they then let dry.
