NEEDED ASAP

Post by 400brian »

I need a set of NOS secondary clutch buttons for a Comet . AM52995 or AM53738

Leaving for St Germain on the 13th, Wife's sled needs a set. I thought I had some, but it turns out they are Salsbury.

Can anyone mail me a set today?

Matt, I'd bet there are some that are not as good as others. Please try to stock the best ones, they'd be worth the cost. Thanks,

Don, supposedly the ones I'm ordering are genuine Comet and came from CPC. I'll see for sure when they get here.

I'd like to know some opinions on using glue for these. Yes/no, what type? I changed the shoes on a 76 liquifire this weekend and those buttons sit pretty deep and have a nice seat to sit in so i didnt use anything. I've got 2 different sets coming this week for a salsbury and a comet90d. These comet ones are short and stubby. I'll pull them back out on the liqui and use glue on all three clutches if need be.

Never used any glue on installing these.

The helix holds them in and the stem should be snug friction fit.

Ok thanks for the reply JDT. The reason I asked was in the service manual for the 76 LF says to use a 2 part epoxy or cement, but in the 00 series book it says nothing about it. Perhaps the intention was to make the person drill out the old stem and in doing so you'd have to take it apart and inspect the rest of the clutch?

I think Deere was worried about when the clutch back shifted that poss a ramp slide could pop out. Thats why the epoxy was recomended. Brock

My concern would be the glue reacting with the plastic and making it brittle.
