ccw/kioritz question

I have a nice running engine I pulled from a Sno-Prince, not a pretty installation.
The engine ID is KEC440E-121.
Is this an engine John Deere used?
Compression is 155 each hole. I'd like to sell it, but don't want false advertise

No it's not. Is that what it says on the ID plate on the fan housing?

No, there is no tag. It has been removed. Probly a shady deal at one time or another eh.
I bought a 69 sno prince from a scrap yard, it was solid/complete, no rust or dents.
But it shouldn't have ever had a CCW. Shoulda been a hirth single.
That number came off the lower left jug beside clutch.
I was going to temp/stuff it in a blown up Cyclone today.
Seems like a solid engine, but the clutch is too far offset from the
secondary to align it, and the PTO shaft is smaller than my
JD/Comet clutch. So it's an anchor to me. I had it running
on a intravenous line. It sounds awsum, hit the throttle and spins
the track instantly and with no bog. Starts cold nicely, and the compression is mint.
I wish I could use it.

OK, ignore what I said before, because that's the cylinder P/N, not the engine model, so it might be Deere, but I don't have a way to ID it by the cylinder number.

Since you mentioned the PTO shaft is smaller then the clutch - if it was from a Deere it would have to be a '72 model, that's the only year with a output shaft smaller then 30mm. It would be from a 500. There are other brands that it could have come from though.

If the carb manifold is bolted to the jug, it's probably a KEC-440 piston ported motor. If the carb manifold bolts to the crank case it's a case reed KEC-440/21 or /22 motor. Other builders used CCW motors besides Deere of course, but only Deere got them directly from Kiortz starting with the 74 295/s motor.

Matt, I might be mistaken, but I thought only the 72 Model 400 with it's KEC-340 was the only JD sled with a 25 mm crank? I can't remember if the 72 500 with it's KEC 440 was 25 or 30mm.

I was thinking it was just the 340 that was 25mm as well. Can't lay my hands on my '72 parts book at the moment.

You guys may be right, I don't know either way for sure. In which case driftbuster, it must be a version of the engine before Deere started using them.

thanks eh, sold it to a guy putting it in an argo type thing. It
was a PP non reeded engine. Carb on the cylinders.
