1978 Liquifire coolant Reservoir Tank

The threaded part of coolant Reservoir Tank came out. Has this happened to anyone else ?

Hi Pat,

It happened to one of my 76 Liquifires where the filler neck broke away from the motor top tank. It leaked coolant everywhere, but did not completely break off.

Sorry to hear yours broke.

It did not break, it just came apart. I epoxied the threaded insert back in. Only time will tell if it holds.

Back in the day I had seen this also I don't remember if it was on one of our CC sleds or what but we used the green high strength Loc-Tite sleeve retainer to fasten it & never had anymore problems.. I think from the factory they were just a press fit & probably over time & heat/cooling come apart. You might ck & see if anyone has a Service Bulletin on the correct fix for this problem....

Kenny,
I ended up epoxying it back in. I have put a hundred or so miles on it the engine since then, all seems well.When it blew out, there was coolant sprayed eveywhere.
