I was told it was for a 600. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I just checked on a KEC 440 I picked up years ago.
The name plate says manufactured by Kyoritsu Noki Co. Ltd
I was told it was for a 600. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Kyoritsu Noki Co. Ltd, became the Kioritz Corp in 1971.
All the engines used in Deeres that I have ever seen were built by Kioritz of Japan. I'd say that engine predates Deere's entry into the market.

also says CCW so I would guess 71 - 73, Boatel, Chaparral, Jac-Track, Kometik, Mercury, Northway, Raider, Roll-O-Flex, Scorpion? Deere used a CCW / KEC440 in the 73, 500, & 600..
Also note that the name Kyoritsu Noki Co. Ltd is a Japan Co. Where as it says Kioritz Corp. of America, 350 Wainright Ave., Northbrook IL. 60062, Until the later engines said Kioritz of Japan..
