1980 Liquifire

Post by I500 »

Couldn't resist buying this at an auction. Think its the nicest original sled I ever bought. It does have Steffe skis, ski-skins and mirrors on it and they painted shocks and springs. Also has some green banding on it. The seat is original and flawless and overall sled is pretty nice. windshield is even original and not a single scratch on it.
The Guy working the auction leaned over to pull the rope and knelt right on the hump hard. I almost lost it but no damage. Seat is very soft. Don't see that everyday.

This is a picture and I didn't even clean it up yet. Also came with a darn nice cover, original registration and a maintenance log.

Nice! I'd suffice it to say that I haven't seen one that nice since my Dad got his '80 LF in 1983.

It was an auction from a guy that collected antiques. He did take care of stuff.

Nice score Chuck!!! I went to a auction a year ago with two 72 400 parts sleds. They went for $150 and $125. Way too much for part sleds for the condition. I also scan the auctions for sleds. It's fun especially when you find one that nice.

Just because I now own 5 -80,s Liquifires doesn't really qualify me as coming over to the Dark Side, or does it? ..........They are fun to drive, still kind of ugly but that can be fixed with a little green paint.

This sled has a perfect original seat. Are there many seats out there in this condition? Should I be taking this off and selling or trading to somebody looking to do a restoration? or is it not a big deal and just ride as is and not worry about tearing it up. I just don't see myself restoring an 80,s sled and doing a trailer queen. Back a few years ago, a seat went for crazy money, I think over $700.....Any thoughts from the 80,s expert guys? Thanks
