The LM code and 10/81 does not match. They used open hoods only on early ones made in '81 but I think that's it. What side of the sled is the gas filler neck on?

Yep, filler on 82's on the left. There is no strap over the seat either so there shouldn't be any holes in the tunnel. You better go and buy it!! :beers;

That sounds right from what I can remember. The kill switch looks like a stop sign.

Looks like a nice original. What happened to the muffler? Seems like an odd thing for a otherwise complete sled to be missing.

Yea that's what I thought but they said it rusted out and they took it off which you no no where that leads to long gone and the plastic in belly pan is 3 1/2 inches different than 83 so either looking for one or possibly might cut one down to fit not going to rush into anything I really don't understand why they changed the belly pan size but the hood closure does make sense

Spitfire 36,

The muffer on the 82's is unique as you noticed. I "might" have an NOS (New, Old Stock) one to spare, but its going to take a while to unload my last trailer full of parts I brought down from NY.

Nice find, and one of the few I have seen with the original, as built hood still on her.

Hey Spitfire ... not sure of your first name ......... Anyway, I would be curious as to what y pipe is on the sled?
Any pictures? The snows and Sprints were part of a Mandatory Malfunction Program. The parts to be changed for the Sprint
included ..... Hood, Windshield, Throttle Control Assembly, intake silencer, carburetor, choke cable, carburetor boot, carburetor adapter,
handle bar grip, oil pump spring, oil pump bracket, exhaust manifold (y pipe), exhaust boot and gaskets and many other nuts bolts etc.

The original kill switch was one like the 80s Liq etc. The y pipe was way different on the 82s but the parts book does not list it, however it shows what the 82 y pipe looks like in the diagram.
They show a different muffler in the parts book for the 82s but not y pipe????

I would be curious if your carb was changed?

My name is tim I looked at the things you listed I think most everything has been changed except hood and winshield the y pipe does look to be little miss shaped not a perfect round pipe like my other 83 I try to get some pictures it has not factory hand and thumb warmers on it which don't look good

Tim ...... does the y pipe have two individual flanges that bolt to the head or one flange that covers both exhaust ports?
