Can someone tell me the ohm spec for '80 Liquifire stator & pulser coils? I lost ignition over the winter. I disconnected sled electrical harness from engine to separate kill system, had no effect. I then Replaced CDI unit and main spark coil, had no effect. The next step is likely to pull the engine to check / replace stator & pulser coil. There is no ohm spec for stator and pulser in the JD Tech Manual? Does someone have these specs?
I have disconnected the two leads to stator / pulser (red / white) from engine to the CDI unit. I checked ohm reading across red to white wire (engine side) and measured 33 ohm. However when I checked resistance for red wire to case, I measured infinite (open circuit). Also when I checked white wire to case, I measured infinite (open)?
I was expecting to measure ~160 to 200 range ohm. So my reading open circuit for red to case and white to case did not seem right? Perhaps someone knowledgeable in the kokasan system for 1980 can advise me on this before I pull the engine out.
Thanks

It maybe that you lost the ground on the exciter coil or lost the stator ground connection.
It cound be the exciter coil itself has opened.
Any connectors on stator and harness should be checked also.

JD never gave ohm specs that I am aware of. These are from the Invader manual. The attachment is hard to read because it is a scan from poor original.
Figure 3-7 says:
Exciter Red to Brown (ground), 128 Ohms +/- 20%, 40 VAC at cranking speed with spark plugs installed
Pulser White to Red, 23 Ohms +/- 20%, 4 VAC at cranking speed with spark plugs installed

Re: Ignition Troubles: '80 Liquifire Stator & Pulser Coil Specs
After examining the wire diagram, I agree it is either a bad ground on exciter or bad exciter coil. I used my ohm meter to connect at brown (ground) wire in engine connector and then rechecked continuity with Red and with white. I still had open circuit. Based on this, I believe I have an open (bad) exciter coil. I will pull the engine to remove the coil to inspect.
Thanks for the diagnostic help. I wish JD would have published the ignition specs for 1980 Liquifire. Not sure why this was not included in the TM.
