I lost power to my lights and tach, all wires tested good to the plug, am i in for an engine pull?

Check the prongs in the plug. Sometimes they push in to the plug and you have to pull them back out with needle nose pliers.

Bad voltage regulator could be the cause.

i swapped out the old voltage reg. right after it happen hoping that was the case(i happened to have a NOS VR hanging around) it didnt help anything
would the coils from a 340 liquid be the same as the 440? just in case i have a bad coil i have a good 340 on the shelf i could steal from

Stators would be the same, yes.
