I am getting close to the point of reinstalling the seal pto side on my kohler 295 in a JDX 4, Is it possible to NOT have to put the ring gear and hub back on, without electric start I see no need to reinstall them. I have other 295s that never have had one on and the other JDX 4 295 does not have one either.
When I took the hub off I was told to measure the depth which was 31 mm, I need to make a tool to press the hub back on to work right, but with the shop expansion going on right now I do not have the access to all my tools to make one, ie jd tool 37. I want to put clutch on and start testing motor under load
What is the purpose of the ring gear if you do not have electric start?
Does it act like a flywheel or a spacer for the clutch?
