Trailfire cylinders

Post by kreechur »

I am doing a crank seal job on my 80 trailfire 440 and have found the cylinders to be in poor shape. It appears the last person decided to put the pto crank seal in without splitting the crank as it's all bent in a perfect circle that looks to be left by a socket. The PTO side piston had a hole just about burned through it and the cylinder has some scoring. The Mag side cylinder doesn't have any scoring however appears to be somewhat worn. Neither side has any crosshatch visible. The sled did have about 120 PSI in each cylinder before teardown. My question is, are those cylinders chome plated? Can i just run a hone on them, or am i looking at sending them somewhere to be reworked? I'm looking for some options so any advise is greatly appreciated.

You can run a flex hone just to get a nice cross hatch in them. Once they are scored they need to be redone.
I will have good used ones.
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.
