I was going to to do a How-To for the crankseal change on a 300. I first did this last year on my 300, and while it's a simple job and the service manual etc. are easy enough to follow, pictures always win.
Always interested to see what other people notice in the pictures you post as well. I don't have a lot of experience with JD sleds, so I'm just assuming what I see in my 300 is they way it should be.
Anyway, I probably won't get around to my seals until the Christmas break, since we won't have snow in Southern Ontario by then anyway. I'll try and get some pictures posted then - if you still haven't got around to yours yet.
Oh, and $20 for a clutch puller is a good investment in my mind vs. the time and fuss to make one up. I found that the bolt/allthread needed is a 9/16" - 18 fine thread I believe, which I couldn't find stock anywhere - would have been an ordered in item which killed the value proposition for me.

The puller is the same as a CAT HEX puller.
Doing a 300 engine right now.
