For Sale 76/78 Liquifire

Post by WinnipegStPaul9 »

I'm a pretty trusting guy and once in awhile that trust will bite you in the as#. What I saw in the picture was a pretty nice/straight 78 440 Liquifire and it was close to me so I bought it. I'm a man of my word so when I saw it I kept my mouth shut and just loaded it up. It appears from the front to be a 78 LF (even with a non broken grille) and you can see the radiator. However!!! It's a 76 chassis (#43 build)that someone has converted. It's a pretty nice sled but does need TLC. I don't have time to do anything with it so I want to sell it. I have $450.00 in it and that's what I want for it. If you have any interest let me know however I'd prefer no snide remarks about my ability to miss things in photos. I know I screwed up and don't need reminded. That said, remarks about me hitting a tree are still fair game! Pictures? Don't have any as it's still on the trailer but trust me, it looks like a 78 LF hood/radiator in a 76 chassis. Nothing more, nothing less. If you live anywhere that Patty and I like to visit I'd consider delivery otherwise come get it.

I'll take a shot, since it's OK to comment on the "Tree incident", I'll ask why didn't you use this sled, the bastard, instead of the 78 Cross Country to run up a tree? What? To soon?

My philosophy on life in general is: If you never screw up, you are either not trying very hard...or you are not doing anything!

Kind of like the situation where the combine never causes you any problems if you never take it out of the shed. :wall:

Employ some "sled averaging" Don, it'll all work out.

I discovered today that the hood is not a 78 but someone did an outstanding job of glassing in the gills of the 76 hood and mounting the 78 hood grill. Guys I really want this thing gone, gone, gone. No reasonable offer will be refused.

Wow i can see it , in the decal by the vent. Someone went to great trouble to get a 78. You would think it would have been easier just to go find a 78. Brock

I have a friend that put 4440 decals on a 4430 to fool people. He didn't realize that the air cleaner and muffler are reversed on the two models. You should have seen the look on his face when he realized that.

Anyone interested at $300.00? I need to move it for more projects. I'll leave the offer here for a couple of days before putting on Craigslist.
