Got hold of an old Spitfire in boxes, completely torn apart. Decided to put it back togheter and started off with new bearings and sprockets on the drive shaft. Followed an old John Deere service manual when I started to but it back togheter. The bearing on the secondary side is according to this manual supposed to have locking flange in the tunnel, along with the two pieces that actually holds/centers the bearing in the chassis. Other side (disc brake one) has everything on the outside of the tunnel (locking flange still on inside though)
Well long story short, primary clutch does not line up with secondary when engine is put in place, am I missing a bunch of shims or whats the problem? When I look at it the axle that the secondary sits on does not stick out very much from the chassis, but I guess its supposed to be that way, otherwise you wouldnt be able to remove secondary without taking drive shaft and bearings out.
Se attached pictures, I hope that someone here has the knowledge or an actual spitfire so I can get pics of how it's supposed to line up. The spit is a rare bird in Sweden so I cant find anyone to have a look at over here.
