Original Seat Cover wrap

Post by jep_800 »

Maybe someone here can help with this question... Has anyone run across this type of seat cover wrap under the actual seat cover? When I restored my JD 800 I found this under a crappy cover that someone put on to replace the original. I thought maybe this was put on at that time, but when I looked at the pattern of the cloth, and the staples looked like they had been there a long time. I remember bed sheets looking like this when I was a kid. So, do you think Deere did this before attaching the cover? What I found is that it was much easier to center and pull my new cover with it on, vs. trying to stretch it over bare seat foam. What do you guys think?

No, Deere did not put that on. The original seats were vacuum formed, and the material bonded to the foam in the process. I think you should leave it like that though. :lol22:

Yeah, I don't know who or when it was put on, but thought it looked really retro, and that's why I thought maybe it was done at Horicon. It must have been early in its life, cause they haven't made that paisley pattern for years.
