1967 Winnipeg-St Paul I-500 Film

Post by WinnipegStPaul9 »

Hey guys, I found a copy of the 67 I-500 16mm film produced by Polaris. We used it in 72 and 73 to drum up sponsorship funds. Other than having a pink hue it's in good condition. The hard part was finding a projector but I found one at my church and watched it this morning. Do you think that there would be any interest in the film if I put it on a DVD? It'll be pretty costly, to the point that I don't feel I can give away copies. I can't get an exact cost estimate because I don't know how many feet are in the film but it's 25 minutes long. I'd appreciate any input you could give me. Don

A local facility wants $59.95 for the first 250' and fifteen cents a foot after that. I have no way of knowing how many feet of film is there but I'd guess about 800'. Another message said that after that it would need "digitized'?? I guess I'm just afraid of the unknown here. Don

I do not have the capability of doing the conversion from 16mm to DVD but I can make DVD copies for the price of the Blank discs! I will check a couple of contacts of mine and see if I can cash in a favour or 2 and get this to DVD for free or next to free! I'll keep you posted!

Mr. Deere, I didn't mean to ignore you the first time but to be honest I have no idea as to how to download a 25 minute film to a website. Also, it would take up a lot of space. The question should be directed to Matt. Don

No Problem ill ask him next time I talk to him. You could always upload it to a Limewire of sorts and we could download it ourselves. BOB

I'd assume you have to play the reel to a hard disk recorder, then use some software to convert it to a .wvm or quicktime or whatever, but I don't have the equipment.

Larry at vintagesleds.com has just taken a 70s theatrical movie and had it converted to DVDs to sell. Maybe he could point you in the right direction.

Ya, I do video as part of my Business.......... It gets big in a hurry depending on compression level, etc....... But, I could host it on my site as I have tons of room and plenty of unused bandwidth........

Then Matt & Joe could just link to it.......Like it was actually on their site........
