Re: Vintage Challenge Warm Up Ride...
Matt,
Like Brian said, we are just having a fun ride for a few of us that might want to put down some miles on a bogie sled. I was thinking of some form of donation to the HoF, but I kind of like Brian's idea of buying raffle tickets. Either way, it's all voluntary of course. Your idea of a 50/50 raffle is actually pretty good too. So get going on your 600 project, LOL!
Wade,
The "no rules" will be strictly enforced <grin> and of course a bogie-slide 295/s would be welcome on the Bogie Bash. I hope you can scare one up! I have a ROUGH bogie 295/s, but it would take an act of god to get it ready in time. At least I don't have to replace the bulkhead in my race sled again...

I would think "THE" calling card to get participants to attend the "Katy's Bogie Bash To Bent's" would be for Brian to auction off a complete set of refurbished bogie wheels after the ride!

Idea, optional of course, buy a poker hand and draw either before you leave our return prior to the conclusion. I'm not sure that this event couldnt use more routes as we got split up alot this year. Gaining more and more sleds each year.

Re: Vintage Challenge Warm Up Ride...
This is great.
Could you not have it in conjunction with the Poker Ride. Everyone starts and ends at the Hof. The Amber group takes off and goes their direction, the bogie group goes their direction. Each group draws cards at their various locations and everyone comes back to the HOF to draw their final 2 cards. That way no competition for each ride; the rides are in conjunction/compliment each other and each end at the same location, time and intention.
I think they both can work together and not against each other. Certainly having both groups start and end from the HOF will add great conversation and laughs.

I've been thinking more about the logistics. If we shared in the poker drawing, and we got hung up and didn't get back til late, we would be messing the original group up.jdsledsrgr8 wrote:This is great.

There is no intent to work against anyone, and I hope it isn't looked upon that way. Just trying to generate some interest in a slightly different way, and encourage support of the HOF by having some fun with our old junk.
I appreciate your thoughts Matt. Lets continue to ponder this subject to see if we can come up with a plan that pleases as many folks as possible. To work, it needs to be simple.

May not make friends or may lose some here but, this is not an Amber event. This is a Loose Lugnut and Snowmobile Hall of Fame fund raiser. Marna and I are very grateful that it has been renamed after our son Cameron. As for who wants to ride where? Just ride. Put as many miles as you wish on your sleds. The poker run is a good money maker for the hall and will continue to be. I agree that there are probably enough sleds that that warrant a second ride. Just ride. Enjoy yourself, you've worked all year for it, just ride. I will continue to strive for the trophy though.

Re: Vintage Challenge Warm Up Ride...
bob , I love your quote "just ride" that's the spirit of snowmobiling. Ive been thinking about different ideas for katys bogie bananza. I haven't figured out a good way to make the poker hand work well without creating a project or duty for someone to have to do. could our hands be drawn automatically somehow or draw them before we even leave? honestly ive never done a poker run before but I do understand the concept. Ive also thought about a small registration fee for this mid-mount mayhem. maybe it would include an entry into a drawing for something ?? BUT, that is overthinking it. The idea was to do something very simple that wouldn't constitute a bunch of work or expense for someone to put together , which points me right back to somehow linking this with the poker run which is already established and in place. honestly I think that's the best idea if we can make it work wade

Well as a none participant of the HOF ride as it always falls on the same day as LOS Vintage sleds ride <that I do attend> I found myself shaking my head at some of these posts. Thanks to Bob to just simplify by saying "just ride". That is what is all about and why I enjoy the LOS ride. Its very simple. Ride/ be safe and have fun with the ones your with, no gimmicks, games or bullswitz. Just ride and enjoy the moments. Once you start complicating things than its all over. Have fun

I have to disagree Chuck. All we're talking about is a way to raise a little more money for the HOF while riding. It's not a wasted effort.

Re: Vintage Challenge Warm Up Ride...
I have to admit, I was going to try the poker run this past ride, but some things just never work out. I insted had a great time with wade and the group I rode with. In the spirit of just ride, that is what I intend to do. I have these sleds to Ride!!! I will atend next year come hell or high water! I will be arriving on Wednesday before the ride, to do more trail riding. When I ride here at home it is cross country, and I have fun with it. I hope we can come up with something that works, I am just a newcomer, but plan to attend every year. I am sure ther is a solution, the bogie boogie sounds fun, there is eleven months to figure it out. Let's just RIDE! I am shooting for the trophy too, shiney is my favorite color! Later Lincoln

I have plenty of comments about this post but will only post this one. You attend this event because it's a Snowmobile Hall of Fame event. Whatever you decide, just make sure you "dance with the one that brung ya". DA

Re: Vintage Challenge Warm Up Ride...
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the feed back and input. This ride is not a sanctioned HoF event, but it would be nice if we can benefit the hall with raffle ticket sales or such. It's fun run for some folks that might want to put down a 70-80 miles before the official Ride with the Champs events. Brian and I thought making it a bogie ride will add a interesting twist and challenge.
Another reason to run up to Bent's Friday morning is to refresh our memories of the trail, like a shortened version of the guides ride. Hopefully we can get back to catch the cookout at the Hall, as that is always a good time.
Thanks,
-Joe Rainville

Re: Vintage Challenge Warm Up Ride...
Just ride...I like that.
We were really hoping to generate interest in the ride itself, rather than on the fund raising aspects of it. We will do something to generate some $$ for the HOF, we have plenty of time to decide what.
Getting a sled ready...now that is where a year is going to go by fast.
There are some advantages to riding at a moderate pace. When we arrived back at the motel Friday evening, we were all in pretty good shape, no one was hurting too bad at all. Give us some smooth trails next year, and you won't be able to make us stop grinning!
