JD300 updating to minuki VM30 carb

Post by slednut87 »

I am working on this for a friend and he wants to put a VM30 carb in it. Has a new one already for it but we need to get the jets set right. It comes with 250 main, 40 pilot, p-5 needle jet (159 series), 6f5 needle, 2.5 throttle valve, 2.0 main air jet, and a 3.3 needle valve. I have read through here a bunch and found that I need roughly a 200 main and 25 pilot for starters. But what else needs to be changed and to what? I haven't really ever jetted carbs before, just changed needle heights and air screw to get them running better. I have a new fuel pump, and cables already so its just getting the carb set right. Does ony one have a good baseline or have what they put in for this set up? Any help is greatly appreciated. And if it goes well I am doing this to my spitfire next.
Thanks
Ryan

I did the same thing last fall I'm still running a 200 main and 25 pilot. the needle e clip is set third from the top. So far I'm not going to change any thing.
She ran great and started on the second pull even at -10 below. Jeff :sled:
