I love when you get a sled prepped for disassembly and you find things like a Lil sticker of where the sled was originally sold, instead of all the bad things you find!

Yeah Todd I agree that the pin stripping was done nicely, it will be staying on the sled!

Decided to look up some info on where this sled was originally sold. It's a ma and pa operation in northern mn. Called the lady there today, older, and she laughed and said yeah back in the 80's we sold John deere snowmobiles. She was going to see if there was any old paperwork or anything on the sled and call me back so it's a wild shot, but a shot none the less on its history.

So it looks like original seat, but if so it's the nicest wood of all my seats! Someone has goofed around with the suspension at some point. The tank has a brass fitting nipple used and siliconed in place and the tank was plastic epoxy. The track looks nice! Took off the backrest mounts from tunnel. All done in between overtime work shifts today! :usa:

So I pulled the secondary shaft to replace both bearings but the locking collar seems seized on the shaft, the set screw came out and after heating it up with a hand plumbers torch and spray lube I'm able to tap it slightly and move it but I'm sure it's rusted on their and I want to get this bearing off, I have other secondary shafts from 80 LFs but I would like to salvage this one. So does anyone have any other ideas or tips or tricks, I currently have it soaking in marvel mystery oil. Also anyone ever seen a grease fitting put on the pto side bearing on the drive shaft?

You can cut some notches in it with a cutoff wheel and than give it a smack with a chisel and BFH.

Just checking to see if you are aware the locking collar has to be spun 1/4 turn or so off of the accentric to release from the bearing. There is a small hole to place a punch in then smack it with a hammer to rotate it.
The flangette with a grease zerk is actually a good idea as long as the proper bearing is installed with small holes around the outside for the grease to enter. This is very common on farm equipment.

Todd I already considered your idea as a last resort and may have to lol. Pat I read in the manual about it needing to be turned and had a screwdriver in the hole and has hammer smacking it and it was barely barely moving. Do you guys know if the 82 sporty secondary shaft and bearings are the same as the 80 LF secondary shafts and bearings? She's been soaking in marvel mystery oil overnight so we'll see if this lubes the locking collar a little more so i can smack it off and get that bearing off.

Hit it in the opposite direction, then back and forth. You may need a BFH ( you figure it out )
