I did some digging......

Greaseable bearing flanges are in the owner's manuals for 1982 model year large frame sleds, but not in the 1982 Changes and Improvements dealer service publication. Like Pat wrote, you could use a bearing with grease ports in the outer race if possible but I'm not certain sleds came from the factory with that style bearing. They might have only wanted to lube the flange / bearing area to permit some flexibility and purge water to prevent rust. Perhaps someone on the forum who has torn one down could enlighten us as to what bearing was found in the process since I've not had one of the 190,001 assemblies apart.

I guess I assumed you knew how the locking collars worked.

But the inner race can rust onto the shaft.
A tourch is not the best as it can damage the shaft.

Another option, once the collar is loose, is a use a press.

Hey Allan, I have had the same issue. I usually use a cut off wheel on a grinder. Small steps, and once through, it slides off with little effort. If you are good, you won't do more then scratch the shaft. Wear safety glasses that are tinted, it helps to see the cut. Have fun, when you are done with it for winter, Maybe we can get togather, and race mine against yours. Later Lincoln

Yes the greaseable flange is interesting, thanks for looking that up Pat. Todd I havent yet done a driveline bearing so this was my first experience, but what I did is soak it in marvel mystery oil for almost 24hours then today pulled it out and used a chisel and hammer and she literally tapped and slid right off the bearing, amazing that stuff rocks. Lincoln, I would line them up lol!

Well, accomplished what I wanted to before work today but barely lol. Made my first cork drive train gaskets today and also added a Liquifire chaincase and installed new secondary shaft bearings And a undented bumper.

And the most fun job....the drive shaft, is in. While cleaning up the speedo gear, I noticed no cable at all was in the speedo line and the speedo gear was missing a plug on the end, but had been previously hooked up, so I had to scrounge the parts buckets for another and clean her up and install her. Now that the driveline bearings are done, now it's onto the skid.

Old slides coming off, new slides going on thanks to newbreedparts! Can you fellers guess which wheel shaft is from a Washington state skid and which is from a Minnesota skid?

Well after working a 80hr work week at the nut hut, I decided to tend to the deer a Lil bit. The chaincase got 20/39 gearing and a 66 pitch chain cause the 21/39 66pitch combo wouldn't fit the liquidity tensioner, would of had to go with a 68 pitch chain and 21/39 gears, but I'm saving that combo for one of my liquifire builds, so the sporty will be just slightly torguier! Also rumaged through the parts totes to find the nicest brake pads and retainers and the installed them and adjusted the brake so that's ready to go! Chaincase also got a new gasket ring and fresh oil! Didn't paint the cover just cleaned her up a bit. Suspension is all greased assembled and installed again as well. Making small progress every week.

Well Rob the carb is finally going in the dunk tank buddy! I touched up the motor shroud and finished assembling most of it and dropped her in so I could put on the primary and get it aligned with the secondary. Fanners definitely require more adjusting to get proper center distance, positive horizontal scew, vertical scew and offset. Thanks to a dear friend loaning me his clutch tool I got them already to go and with a new belt from newbreed the clutching system should be ready.
