Need Help With Ski's

Post by silverbullet »

I have 3 different NOS ski's. I need help with figuring out what part number they are. First one in picture is AM54678, last one is AM52884. What is middle ski look like? Box says they are AM52884 but don't look same as bottom ski. Any idea what this ski fits???

Can you get a better picture showing the slot in the rear mount area for the wear rod placement. Fire Series skis had a dog-leg like bend at the rear of the wear rod.

The ski is pre-1978. I am thinking 77 Cyclone/liquifire.

What's the difference between AM53318 and AM53578 ski ? I have four of these that I thought were AM52884 ski's. At least that is what label on unopened boxes said.

Little hard to tell by the pic but looks like early Liquifire.

The bottom ski with the flat top loop is definately a '74 100/JDX ski. But not original to a '72 or '73, though it may have been listed in parts as the replacment.

After that the book gets confusing. It looks like AM53318 is for a two bolt wear bar, and AM53578 is for a three.
However, AM53578 is listed as the ski for the 340/S, but they show it as a 2 hole bar. THe 340/S ski also did not have the pad welded across the ski for the rubber bumper to bottom out on.

What would the front shock mount look like on the AM53318 or AM53578? The top Liquifire ski has taller mount and the bottom JDX ski has shorter mount. The ski in question also has shorter mount. The boxes for middle ski did have a M63739 part number on them as well but can't find what that number is for.

That's what's so confusing. The ski has the shock mount from a '74, so side-mounted shocks as opposed to above the spring like everything after that year. But it has a round loop, those should be flat.

Could it be a 295/S replacement ski? It's not aluminum is it? Maybe a steel replacement for the aluminum ones?

Maybe not, every photo of a 295/s I can find has the tall shock mount.
