Help with 340s

Post by MWB »

I'm putting my 340s back together and things aren't matching up quite right. The bearings on the jack shaft and drive shaft, which way is the collar on the bearing supposed to be facing? I have them facing the right side but when I tighten the secondary clutch on it binds up. ( with cup washer facing in) If I turn them the other way it looks like the top gear would hit the bearing or gear case. And then my next though is the cup washer on the secondary side does that face in or out? I have the parts catalog but the diagrams aren't the best. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Think of it this way, the collar faces the splines. It's been a looonnnggg time since I did a 340/s but I'm certain it's the same way.

Ok, so collars facing toward gear box?? (no splines on the clutch side) Which is the way I have them. Then cup facing out? Or I'm missing something else. I don't know... This is what happens when you tear something apart too many years ago and then try and remember how it goes back together. :wall:
