I've got a cross shaft seized into my rear trailing arm. Penetrating oil, heat, and hydraulic press all applied but three days on, no movement.
Front was easy. Going to add grease zerks on both to prevent reoccurrence and make servicing easier.

Re: Seized cross shaft.
I think there's a whole section somewhere on the site about seized cross shafts. We've all been there!!

I've used muriatic acid a few times now and some types I get end up needing multiple treatments to eat through the shaft. Don't get the "Green" stuff if they have that at your hardware store, it seems to be less potent. Next time I find a brand that works well I need to write down what it is.

Re: Seized cross shaft.
I'm going to try freezing it and shocking it first. I figure that the aluminum expands/contracts by different amounts. If I can get them down to -20C, that might get the shaft to move. Once it moves, then it shouldn't be hard to get out.

Re: Seized cross shaft.
A plastic rubbermaid tub, 2 gals of regular muriatic acid NOT deluted at all. Set the arm in so the shaft is completely submerged and get away, LOT's of Dangerous Fumes. Do it outside away from everything, gas is corresive.

Re: Seized cross shaft.
Yes the acid works well.
Try threading a socket headed screw into one end of the shaft. Then you can use an air hammer to drive the shaft out. Used along with the (cold/hot shock method) it works everytime.
The socket headed screw contains the air hammer bit when hammering. Use a bit that fits inside the socket head.

Can you post a pic as I'm not sure what this setup looks like?
