Polcat, you are correct, the Invader pads are the same, as well as the links you posted.

Re: 1977 340 liquifire project
Yes it will but there will be an extra position between off and start. Do you have electric start?

Re: 1977 340 liquifire project
Correct, the JD OEM switch had OFF, RUN, START
The aftermarket switches have OFF, ON,RUN,START
Since you do not have electric start it will not be as confusing. ON and RUN allow the engine to run but the switch has to be in the RUN position to charge the battery if you had electric start.

Re: 1977 340 liquifire project
It runs pretty good sometimes I can zip a round with lots of power one second and the next im going pretty fast and it just dies down to idle and then it doesn't have enough power to engage the clutch. after it cools downs it has power again so i think its a spark thing but idk may the fuel pump what could it be? thanks
Re: 1977 340 liquifire project
Stator coils. The high speed coils are falling off and then it runs on the idle coils. That's what happened to my 76 440.

Re: 1977 340 liquifire project
Low speed winding failures are more common but I have also experienced a high speed winding failure on a 76 Liquifire. The symptom was identical as yours.

Re: 1977 340 liquifire project
im finally working on this sled again and i got the stator out and the resistance on the high speed winding-the blue wire- is 80 Ohm cold I could get up to 89 with a hair dryer Is it bad? also when i test the low speed-the yellow wire- it says its a open loop or the numbers just jump around and then it says open loop.which is weird because it idled just fine. So whats going on? is the trigger ring a problem? can i take off the trigger ring without messing up the timing?
Re: 1977 340 liquifire project
also can i replace the seals with the engine still in the sled?
