'77 Liquifire crank seals

Just got a '77 440 Liquifire that hasn't ran since '92. Plan is to put new crank seals and bearings in it. Can someone point me in the right direction for a good source of seals and bearings or is there a complete kit?

The gasket sets include the outer seals but don't show the inners. Inners the same as the MAG or PTO side? Could just the outers be replaced and get by...until it blows? (just answered my own question) LOL

The inner seal typically isn't an issue, and to replace it the crank needs to be professionally rebuilt, so that's a whole other ball game.

Thanks Matt. I understand the rebuild on the crank, I know people that can help me with that. Searched the forum and found others just the PTO and Mag seal.

Read on another site that the '76 Liquifires were black metallic and the '77's were solid black. My '77 is black metallic, don't think its been painted, serial number 72409. What's the straight story?

As far as I know, they are all the same color. I have a '76 and a '78 Liquifire with original paint.

It's been a year and I'm just starting to work on the Liquifire.



Right now I'm getting carbs, fuel pump rebuilt, fuel tank cleaned and new fuel lines installed. I pulled the intake and reeds the crankcase looked good, not rusty crusty. Ordered a gasket kit and pump rebuild kit.



Pump looked surprisingly good.


Have the carbs soaking in Pine-Sol, read about that trick on the internet. So far it's working pretty good. Has anybody else tried that?

It's going need plug wires. In the parts book it looks like the wires and coil are a unit, wires are not replaceable. Is that correct?



Just got the fuel tank pulled last night, is there a source for the tank bulkhead fitting?

Also the seat bolts insterts spun in the plywood bottom, so I had to pry off the seat. The plywood is rotten in the mounting area. Is there a cheap and dirty fix for this?

I offer a full board with the "T" nuts. If your sled just uses the two side pieces you could cut them out. $25.00 Shipped. I'll attach a picture of the board but it's not a great picture.
