The board you show must be for a Cyclone? Mine is cut out in the center for the heat exhangers.
To me it looked like the board was molded into the seat foam? Am I correct on that?
When I get that far I'll problably getting a board from you.

Yes that motor shot is sexy. Someday I'd like to have a trailer queen but for now this will be a rider.

The board is "generic". Some models use just the outboard sides, some like yours are cutout for the heat exchanger (though I've never see one like that).

The motor in the picture is for a rider, not a show sled but they can still look nice.

Looked at the seat closer today, it is just two strips of plywood down each side.




Got the gaskets, carb boots, fuel pump rebuild kit and fuel line today. Ended up with a rebuild kit and a new Mikuni pump, it was a mix up by me. Thought I'd use the new pump instead of putting the kit in the old one. New pump is different and wont bolt up so the fittings are in the right locations, so I rebuilt the old. One of the reed cages was a little rusty (surface) so that came a part and is in the process of getting cleaned.




What can a person use for insulation under the fuel tank around the coolant lines. The old stuff was junk.

More tinkering today. Reeds, intake, fuel pump installed. Some fuel lines run, need a filter, and in-tank screen.
Did a compression test, both holes 125 psi so that's a good feeling.
Pulled the pipe off and the baffles are broke loose and rattling around in there. Should I look for another or cut the end off and pitch baffles in the iron pile and weld end back on? LOL
Plug wires...are junk, are they replaceable or are new coils required?

New coils are needed, you will also need a new exhaust pipe.

What is a good source for coils. New coils from Parts Unlimited OK or is it best to find some good used ones?

That's actually not the right coil and I need to change the photo because that part number does not come with the wire. This one is for the Kohler engines.

I have heard conflicting reports on the new aftermarket coils. What is everyone experiences?

The coils work fine but I have had a few that had the center coil loose in the metal frame and cause the primary terminal to short out. If you buy an aftermarket coil, inspect the silicone adhesive and add more if needed to tighten things up. The center part should not rattle around.

Motor is laying on the bench. Figured as long as I have the gasket set might as well throw in the crank seals.
Once the motor was out there was lots of treasures under it. Old spark plugs some bits of John Deere labeled cardboard. Needs a good cleaning and some hammer and dolly work on the pan. She's a little rough.
I'll have to get some pics.
