'77 Liquifire crank seals

That's actually not the right coil and I need to change the photo because that part number does not come with the wire. This one is for the Kohler engines.

BTW this is the correct coil, I fixed the listings and have them in stock now.

Any tips for getting a flywheel off that hasn't been off since '77??
Got a puller, had lots of pressure on it, the small 6mm bolts were bending and it won't come off. Don't really want to start hammering, or do I have to get the smoke wrench out (torch)?

Flywheel and clutch are off!
I just had to get a little mean, impact on the puller and a few raps on the puller with a 2lb hammer and it was off.

Didn't have a clutch puller but ended up using the center jack bolt of the puller that I used on the flywheel, it was 3/4" fine thread. I slipped a 6" long grade 8 bolt with the head cut off into the end of the jack bolt. Worked like a real puller. LOL



Next step is crank seals.



I plan on pulling the primary clutch a part and clean it up too.

Getting deeper!
Got the crank seals in and did a little detailing on the engine. Have an NOS waterpump o-ring coming out of Canada. Couldn't find one that would fit locally. Going to pressure check the engine before it goes back in the sled.

Have clutch rollers ordered so the clutch is in pieces now. Secondary is next on the list for tear down.

Pulled the skid out the other night, couldn't belive all the bolts came out of the cross shafts without problems. It like it wants to be fixed! LOL The shock was leaking oil so I've been looking for a replacement. My uncle has Rupps so I looked at the Rupp shocks, they are the same shocks. Rupps used a chrome shocks on the ski's and the same black Gabriel shock for the skid.
Jumped on ebay and found 3 or 4 NOS shocks, so I have one coming.
As long as the suspension is out I'm going to paint it.
Also need to order the plastic slider blocks from New Breed.

Just put crank seals in didn't pull the head. Just a lot of elbow grease and some paint. I used Permatex Motoseal 1 for the crankcase.
Need to pressure test it yet.

Where the ski's and suspension painted Blitz black or semi gloss?
Have some SEM Hot Rod black (flat black) left over that I used on the hood of my Charger. Was thinking of using that.

Before you put the stator back on test the coils for ohms. There is a procedure on this site on how to do it.
My 76 440 had a bad low speed winding, it wouldn't start. It also needed crank seals.

It went into this.


My 77 340 LF black with silver panels.

Never ran the sled before I pulled the motor, it had great spark when pulled over. My plug wires were chewed on by varmints, so it got new coils. T
Just got the water pump o-ring. The suspension is painted too, hopefully things will be going back together shortly.

Did a lot of assembly last weekend. Got the suspension back in, man those are a PITA for one person. Getting the springs compressed and bolts started took some thinking but I got it buttoned up.
With the temps in the 40's and the snow we did have melting fast I rolled the sled outside for a good power washing before the everything went back together.
Just need button up a few small details and it should be ready to fire. Hopefully that will go OK.
