Those shims are to assist in belt deflection for new belts or worn belts

I guess I didn't explain that spacer's location very well. I wasn't referring to the anti-creep shims that are located immediately behind the clutch retaining washer but rather to a thicker spacer that mounts between the helix and sheave. It appears these spacers were used only on the 80-84 Liquifire models with different thicknesses used depending on the year. The Fine Tune manual shows the measurements so I think I'll just machine one out of some thick wall tubing.

Yes I have those spacers on my 80s. Its a thicker ring type spacer, I have just one on each
